A security guard at the complex, which has twin towers with 61 floors each, found Priyanka and informed police.
A day after a 16-year-old girl was found dead on the lawns of a high-rise building in Tardeo, the Mumbai police on Sunday said they were trying to identify the teenaged boy who had come to drop the girl at Imperial Towers after a party on Friday night. The boy might be able to provide some clues, the police added.
Priyanka Kothari, a Class X student at a top south Mumbai school, was found in a pool of blood on the ninth-floor lawn of Imperial Towers around 1.30 am on Saturday. A security guard at the complex, which has twin towers with 61 floors each, found Priyanka and informed police.
On Sunday, police recorded the statements of her parents and combed through the society’s CCTV footage for clues. “A reunion was hosted at one of her former classmate’s residence on Friday night. After the party, around 11.45 pm, she reached home. When we checked the CCTV footage, we saw that a boy had come to drop her. They got off a cab and he came till the lift of the building,” said a police officer.

“We will also be enquiring from the others who were at the party,” he added.
Senior police inspector Sanjay Surve said, “So far, her parents haven’t complained against anyone. Her father was in Delhi for work, while her mother was asleep when Priyanka returned home.”
Priyanka is the daughter of Amrish Kothari, who runs jewellery brand Kothari Fine Jewels from a boutique on Altamount Road.
The police have also recorded the statement of the domestic help who opened the door on Friday night. “I opened the door and went to my room,” she said in her statement, while confirming that Priyanka wore the same clothes to the party in which her body was found in the lawn. “The railing of their balcony is too high for someone to fall accidentally,” said a police officer.
