Four arrested for ‘murder’ of 24-year-old Sewri man

Police said the deceased used to stay in the Retibandar area in Sewri and went missing on Wednesday.

Investigations into the death of a 24-year-old man from Sewri has found it to be a case of murder, police said. Earlier, it was believed that he died in a road accident. The Sewri police have now arrested four truck drivers for allegedly kidnapping and murdering the deceased over a long standing enmity.

Police said the deceased, Ashraf Mujawar, used to stay in the Retibandar area in Sewri and went missing on Wednesday. “We began inquiries among truck drivers in the area and picked up the four drivers with whom Mujawar had an argument.

On being questioned, they confessed that on Wednesday night, they forced Mujawar into a truck while he was on his way home, took him to Vakola and threw him off the flyover,” the officer said. The four accused- Chhedilal Gaur, Ramkaran Yadav, Shailesh Yadav and Dinesh Yadav- have been charged with kidnapping, assault and murder under the Indian Penal Code.
