A Level 2 fire was reported in Anmol Pride, a residential building in Goregaon (West) on Wednesday evening. The blaze was reported around 6.11 pm and it erupted on the 26th floor of the 28-storeyed building.

The BMC deployed seven fire engines and four jumbo tankers to tackle the fire. Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) officials said the blaze had been confined within a penthouse located between the 25th and 26th floor of the building. The officials said the penthouse was empty and there was nobody trapped inside.

“The fire-fighting system of this building was defunct due to which the blaze had intensified. However, no casualty has been reported since nobody is trapped in the floors where the flames had spread,” said an official.

Initially, the blaze was described as Level 1. However, the presence of combustible items like curtains, wooden furniture and electrical appliances intensified the blaze following which the warnings were escalated to Level 2.

“Since the firefighting system was defunct and the blaze erupted in one of the higher floors, we had to push the water using pumps,” the official added.
