Police registered an FIR against seven members of the CM Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena for allegedly assaulting a former member who had switched over to the BJP three months ago.

The accused allegedly assaulted the former member for displaying banners with Gudi Padwa wishes, at Ashokwan in Dahisar East, in the wee hours of Sunday. As per Dahisar police, who registered the FIR, complainant Bhibhishan Ware and his colleague Navnath Navadkar had joined BJP after an internal party dispute.

With the festival of Gudi Padwa around the corner, Ware put up banners, displaying good wishes for the festival from Navadkar, at the junction of Ashokvan–Dahisar East. However, he did so by removing Sena leader Prakash Surve’s banners.

Thereupon, an argument ensued between the two sides, but eventually Ware conceded to the fact that the spot was booked for Surve’s banner

In his complaint, Ware said that despite a resolution tot he argument, Sena members—Sunil Mandve, Anil Dagde, Anil Nair and four others— assaulted him, which resulted in fractures.

“The Sena members wanted revenge as I had left the party and joined BJP,” added Ware. He alleged that even after the banner issue was resolved, they attacked him.

As per police, Ware suffered fractures in his collar bone and elsewhere on the body. Police have registered the FIR on charges of assault and criminal intimidation under relevant sections of the IPC. ENS
