Father arrested in Mumbai for assaulting 6-year-old son for not eating food

The case was registered based on the complaint of the child's mother. The complainant also alleged domestic violence over the last two years.

A 28-year-old man was arrested in Mumbai for allegedly assaulting his six-year-old son who refused to eat food.

The case was registered based on the complaint of the child’s mother. The complainant also alleged domestic violence over the last two years.

According to police, the complainant claimed that she married the accused who is into a fabrication business in 2016.

The complainant alleged that the she and her husband used to have fights frequently over the past two years.

She further alleged that her husband took their son to native place in Pune without informing her and remained unreachable for three days before returning home.

Although he returned after three days, a week later, the husband allegedly forced her out of their home and threatened not to take son with her.

Fearing for her safety, she moved to her mother’s residence in Andheri (East), police said.

She claimed that her husband had relocated with the child to the Sahar area at Andheri (East) in a rented apartment.

On November 25, her husband allegedly made a video call showing the child with injuries, she claimed. When the woman questioned him, the accused allegedly disconnected the call, police said.

The mother rushed to the residence where her husband was staying but found it locked.

She further claimed in the FIR that , two days later, on November 27, she went again and while searching the locality, she found her son with a neighbour. The child reportedly said that his father had beaten him with a wire and a belt because he refused to eat. She found bruises on son’s body and immediately took him to the police station.

“We registered a case against the man based on the statement of the child’s mother. The bruises were found on the child’s body. We immediately took action and he was arrested and produced in the court and sent into judicial custody” said senior inspector Manoj Chalke of the Sahar police station.
