Eastern suburbs to face water cut after fire breaks out at BMC pumping station

Civic officials said that owing to the fire incident, the supply network was halted from the Golanji, Fosbery, Raoli, and Bhandarwada reservoirs in Mumbai. These reservoirs get water supply from the lakes via the Pise station.

Water supply to the eastern side of the Eastern suburbs will be affected after a fire broke out at the Brihanmumbai Muncipal Corporation’s (BMC) Pise Water Pumping Station on Monday evening.

Civic officials said that owing to the fire incident, the supply network was halted from the Golanji, Fosbery, Raoli, and Bhandarwada reservoirs in Mumbai. These reservoirs get water supply from the lakes via the Pise station.

Civic officials said that over the next 24 hours water supply in the eastern suburbs between Kurla to Mulund will be affected. Meanwhile, fire officials said that no injury was reported in the fire incident and cause is yet to be ascertained.

“Additionally, the water supply pressure in the western suburbs and other parts of the Mumbai may also be affected. BMC administration requests citizens to co-operate and use water judiciously during this period,” read the BMC’s statement.
