The prosecution has tabled two more fresh affidavits and the autopsy report of a slain terrorist in the special court that is hearing the 26/11 attack case. The court, which is expected to deliver verdict on May 3,accepted the documents on Tuesday. A senior crime branch officer said,We have been going through the case even after the closure of the trial. We found that the particular evidence was crucial and tendered it before the court. One of the affidavits was affirmed by police sub-inspector Hanumant Bhandalkar of the Colaba police station. He stated in his affidavit that on November 29,2008,inspector Maniksingh Patil of the Colaba police directed him to collect biological samples preserved by doctors of JJ Hospital after conducting post-mortem of slain terrorists and hand them over to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) at Kalina. The same day,he collected two sealed parcels from the medical officer and handed them to the director of FSL. Also,on December 3,2008,after getting instruction from Patil,he collected another 13 such preserved and sealed parcels from JJ Hospital and handed them over to the FSL,states Bhandalkar in the affidavit. Bhandalkar also stated that he had taken the bodies of two terrorists from the fourth floor of Colabas Nariman House to JJ Hospital on November 29,2008. Since Bhandalkar has earlier deposed as a witness, officials said his affidavit has been taken on record and it would be treated as fresh evidence. The other affidavit was sworn in by assistant police inspector Ashok Khedkar who is technically the final witness in the case. Khedkar has stated that around 12.10 on November 27,2008,he saw a police vehicle (Qualis) speeding towards Metro Junction from Rang Bhavan lane. After gunning down three senior police officers, including former ATS chief Hemant Karkare,Kasab and slain terrorist Abu Ismail drove the jeep from Rang Bhavan Lane, via metro junction to Vidhan Bhavan. Near the metro junction, the duo opened fire at the crowd in which constable Arun Chitte and Surendra Ram,a civilian, suffered injuries. Both Chitte and Ram succumbed to injuries at the hospital. While the prosecution submitted the post-mortem report of a terrorist killed in an encounter with the National Security Guard (NSG),the cause of death is shown as haemorrhage and shock due to firearm injuries with burns (unnatural). The unidentified terrorists body was recovered from the Taj Mahal Hotel.
