Day after season’s wettest day, Mumbai records 49 mm of rain on Sunday morning; IMD issues ‘yellow alert’
An ‘orange’ alert has been issued for the districts of Raigad, Thane and Palghar.

A day after Mumbai witnessed the season’s wettest day with over 200 mm of rainfall, the city recorded less than 50 mm of rainfall on Sunday morning amid a ‘yellow’ alert for the day.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), its Santacruz observatory recorded 49 mm of rain, followed by 35 mm at the coastal observatory in Colaba on Sunday morning.
The weather bureau’s ‘yellow’ alert comes after nearly a week of ‘orange’ alert. Meanwhile, an ‘orange’ alert has been issued Sunday for the satellite districts of Raigad, Thane and Palghar.
On Sunday morning, Mumbai remained cloudy but the weather was pleasant as the daily minimum temperature dipped at the Santacruz and Colaba observatories to 24.2 and 24.9 degrees Celsius, respectively. The IMD, in its latest forecast for the city, indicated that moderate to heavy spells of rain would continue in the island city with occasional spells of gust at 45-55 kmph.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) automatic weather stations recorded 45.11 mm of rain in the island city, followed by 42.35 mm in the western suburbs and 39.89 mm in the eastern suburbs.
