Croc rescued in Powai

The 108-cm-long crocodile was entangled in the fishing net cast in the pond which is used for fish breeding since November 1.

A two-year-old crocodile was rescued from the fishing pond inside the National Institute of Industrial Engineering campus in Powai Friday afternoon. The 108-cm-long crocodile was entangled in the fishing net cast in the pond which is used for fish breeding since November 1.

“We immediately cut the net and transferred the crocodile into a net bag that could be kept in water so that the crocodile was safe,” said Vijay Chalke,contractor for the fish breeding process. A six-member rescue team later checked the reptile and took it to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. In evening,Dr Sanjiv Pinjarkar,veterinary officer at the park,declared it “fit” after which the reptile was released.
