Cop gets 1-yr RI in graft case

Special Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Judge B H Loya on Friday convicted Somnath Murlidhar Ghuge,a senior inspector,Parksite police station,for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh and sentenced him to a year’s imprisonment.

The case dates back to 2010,when one Mahindra Chouhan approached Ghuge to settle his son’s externment case. The prosecution said Ghuge had demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. Chouhan informed the ACB,who arrested Ghuge red-handed. Ghuge has been under suspension since he was chargesheeted in the case.
