Maharashtra Congress on Sunday slammed the BJP-run central government and its allies for using central probe agencies to poach its leaders in a bid to divert attention from Rahul Gandhi’s Bhara Jodo Nyay Yatra.

The party said that irrespective of its leader Milind Deora switching sides to join CM Eknath Shinde-led Sena, it won’t deviate from the path to defeat PM Narendra Modi-led central government and its allies in the upcoming general elections.

Mumbai Congress chief Varsha Gaikwad said that it was sad to see that those who were given everything by the party and even made the minister decided to quit the party during hard times. “It doesn’t matter who decides to leave us now. The and its allies are trying every trick to divert attention from Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. The tactics won’t succeed,” she said.

Gaikwad also said that senior party leaders were constantly in touch with Deora to sort out differences, if any.
Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole said that those who have quit their own party are taking along a two-time defeated leader to divert attention from the yatra. “We want to remind everyone that the yatra will culminate in Mumbai, and it will ensure the end of the tyrannical rule of BJP, Shinde and Ajit Pawar,” said Patole.

Congress legislative party leader Balasaheb Thorat termed Deora’s decision as unfortunate and said it was an unsuccessful attempt to create bad omen for the yatra. “Even his father Murli Deora would not have liked the move to create obstacles for Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra which is planned to ensure justice for all Indians,” he said.
