Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday felicitated Thane Disaster Response Force (TDRF) personnel on the occasion of Independence Day and lauded their rescue work in the aftermath of the landslide at Irshalwadi in neighbouring Raigad district in July. Shinde hoisted the national flag at Sena's Thane city office at midnight. After flag hoisting, he felicitated TDRF jawans at a brief function. He lauded work done by Thane's fire services, TDRF and regional disaster management cell (RDMC) teams during emergencies and asked them to continue the good work. The CM also referred to their service in Irshalwadi that witnessed a massive landslide last month. Sena spokesman and former Thane mayor Naresh Mhaske and MLA Pratap Sarnaik were present at the event. In another function, Sena UBT President Uddhav Thackeray also hoisted the national flag at Sena Bhavan with senior party leaders in attendance. In Thane, MP Rajan Vichare of Sena UBT hoisted the tricolour at the party branch office in the presence of Sena (UBT) members.
