Churchgate-Dahanu services to commence by year-end: WR

Local services from Churchgate to Dahanu will commence by year-end or early 2012,according to General Manager of Western Railway R N Verma. The project has been delayed by a year as two important bridges between Dahanu Road and Vadgaon are yet to be completed. The state government is planning to increase the scope of Mumbai Metropolitan Region till Dahanu. Virar,the last suburban station on WR currently,is growing at a rapid pace and there is a need to extend the suburban services beyond it.

Verma also said that Direct Current (DC) to Alternate Current (AC) conversion of section from Borivali to Churchgate would be completed by June this year.
