Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport not to charge for parking
The domestic terminal has 740 car slots while the international terminal can accommodate 4,700 cars and 500 two-wheelers.
The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) has removed parking charges for vehicles coming to both domestic and international terminals at the airport till the midnight of November 21. The move follows a circular issued by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) Monday to the effect. The parking charges at CSIA vary between Rs 110 for a 30-minute slot to at least Rs 1,000 for 24 hours. The AAI decided to take the step as paying parking charges amid the cash shortage was found difficult.
“The Ministry of Civil Aviation has decided to suspend the collection of parking charges at all airports till the midnight of November 21, 2016. This has been done in order to facilitate the smooth movement of passengers,” read its official statement.
“The CSIA has decided to allow free car parking outside the airport till midnight of November 21. While this will be a major hit to our business, it surely is the need of the hour,” said a CSIA spokesperson.
