Ceiling of mayor’s chamber caves in

Even as Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) claims that it is concerned about ceiling collapses occurring in the city,the officials were in for a shock on Monday evening when the part of the ceiling of the mayor’s ante-chamber caved in. “ The mayor had left the office. Nobody was injured”,said L S Vatkar,city engineer,BMC.

“The office of the mayor is in the old building which is under renovation,”said Vatkar.

“The external repair has been carried out,but the internal repairs are not done so far,” he said. “The slab of the building is in good condition and only the plaster needs to be replaced.”
