In a relief to lakhs of students willing to take admission to professional courses in Maharashtra, the state Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has announced an extension in the registration window for entrance tests of courses – engineering, pharmacy, planning, nursing and fine arts.
Candidates will now be able to apply online for these entrance tests until March 15.
The Maharashtra CET cell conducts entrance tests for admission to professional higher education courses running in the state.
Following demands from candidates, the registration windows are now extended for three entrance tests – MHT-CET 2024 for admission to engineering, technology, pharmacy, planning and agricultural education courses; MH-Nursing CET-2024 for admission to nursing courses; and MAH-AAC-CET-2024 for admission to Bachelor of Fine Art education.
For admission to academic year 2024-25, these entrance tests will be conducted in various parts of Maharashtra.
MHT-CET will also be held outside of Maharashtra. “This office has received requests from candidates and parents regarding extension for registration,” read the notification issued by the state CET Cell adding that the decision of extension was taken considering the academic interest of the candidates.
While this is the first extension for entrance tests of nursing and fine arts courses, this will be the last extension for MHT-CET 2024, as registration period was already extended before. “This will be the final extension for MHT-CET,” read the notification adding that candidates registering for MHT-CET during this final extension will have to pay a late fee of Rs 500 which is the same across all categories.
An official from the CET Cell, shared, “Already 7.15 lakh candidates have registered online for the MHT-CET 2024. But yet there were demands of extension by some candidates complaining of technical glitches while filling forms.”
After the initial deadline for registration for MHT-CET ended on March 2, the date was first extended to March 8. Now it is further extended to March 15, with a late fee, officials said.
