Businessman booked for duping seven of Rs 1.54 crore
As per the FIR, Shaikh promised 25 percent profit and a 1200 square foot flat in Versova if Rs 2 crore was invested.

The Bandra police on Thursday booked a man for allegedly dupping a businessman from Bandra and his six friends into investing money in his construction business promising his friend 25% returns and a flat with 25% returns to the complainant businessman. The accused accepted Rs 1.54 crore, but did not deliver the proft or principal, the police said.
“Bandra West resident Faiyyaz Qureshi, 36, had known the accused, Nasir Latif Shaikh for 10 years. Shaikh showed Qureshi various construction sites in Malad, Borivali, Goregaon and Versova and lured him with lucrative returns if he invested money in his business.
As per the FIR, Shaikh promised 25 percent profit and a 1200 square foot flat in Versova if Rs 2 crore was invested. Since Qureshi did not have Rs 2 crore, on Shaikh’s suggestion he introduced his friends to the accused to make the transaction possible.
Shaikh promised them 25% profit and accepted money from Qureshi and his six friends between February 2019 and August 2020, the FIR states.
After a year when Qureshi and his friends asked Shaikh about the promised returns, Shaikh started giving excuses and buying time, an officer said.
Finally he gave cheques to Qureshi and others, but the checks bounced due insufficient funds in the bank account.
After this Quereshi and his six friends approached the police and said that they were cheated of Rs 1.54 crore.
