After gangster Prakash Narayan Pandey alias Bunty Pandey was deported to Mumbai from Ho Chi Minh City and arrested last week after years of evading the police, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch has trained its sights on fugitive gangster Ravi Pujari. Sources said recent enquiries have revealed that Pujaris most recent hideout could be an African country,or possibly, even in Iran. It is highly likely that Pujari is hiding in an African nation,or in Iran. The information needs to be verified, though, and we are working on it, said an officer, who did not wish to be named. Pujari aides have carried out a spate of firings in the western suburbs of the city earlier this year, the Crime Branch and the local police cracked down heavily on the gangs activities arresting 11 members and gunning down a 12th in an encounter in early September. Extortion calls made by Pujari before this crackdown were traced to countries like UK,Russia,France and New Zealand. However, police sources monitoring the gangs activities said these calls were made through Voice over Internet Protocol calling platforms, and therefore, the exact source of the call could not be pinpointed.
