The Bombay High Court received a bomb threat email early on Friday morning, following which a security check was carried out at the court premises in the Fort area of south Mumbai. The bomb scare was later confirmed to be a hoax.
The email was sent to the high court’s official ID, an official said. With the police stating that nothing suspicious was found in the complex, the court commenced functioning around 11 am
This is the second such threat mail received by the Bombay High Court in a week.
On September 12, the Bombay High Court premises were vacated after a bomb scare. The bomb detection and disposal squad, along with the dog squad, were deployed at the court premises, and litigants, lawyers, and court staff vacated the premises. The proceedings resumed in the post-lunch session.
The police had registered an FIR in the matter against unidentified persons.
The Delhi High Court too had received a similar threat on the same day on the official email IDs of the registrar general and other office staff.
