As many as 20 conservancy workers will be awarded for their work
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will be give Sant Gadge Maharaj Puraskar,a cleanliness award,to conservancy workers from across the city on Friday. This is the second time that the civic body will be giving out the award.
The BMC will be awarding about 20 conservancy workers with a view to recognise their work,give them a morale booster and encourage them to spread cleanliness through their work. Sant Gadge Maharaj was a dalit leader who believed strongly in public cleanliness and spearheaded several cleanliness drives.
Along with these awards,the civic body has recognised M-west ward (areas like Chembur,Tilak Nagar) as the cleanest ward in the city. While Nair Hospital and Mahim railway station take the cake for being the cleanest civic hospital and railway station respectively.
The Prince of Wales Museum figures in the list as the cleanest institute in A-ward. Overall,the civic body will be giving out 62 awards to workers and cleanest places in the city. The felicitation ceremony will take place on Saturday at Nair Hospital.
