BMC issues stop work notice on Pali Hill road concretisation after residents flag concerns
At present, the BMC has taken up concretising work in more than 450 km of roads in Mumbai.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday issued a temporary stop work order for the ongoing road concretising work which are underway in Bandra’s Pali Hill. The civic body’s move came after local residents issued a formal complaint flagging dust displacement issues in the locality.
At present, the BMC has taken up concretising work in more than 450 km of roads in Mumbai, of which it aims to finish 132 km by the end of May, before the arrival of monsoon, this year.
As part of this project, the BMC had taken up work in Pali Hill’s Auxilium Convent Road, following which residents approached the civic authorities urging them to not dig up the roads in their area considering they are in a good condition.
“The residents maintained that the road is in a good shape and there’s not much traffic. There are full grown trees in the two sides of the road and digging the road would mean uprooting of the two trees,” said an official.
“There’s also a school at the fag end of the road and in the buildings nearby a majority of the population comprises senior citizens–who would suffer from dust displacement after road excavation begins,” the official added.
The civic officials maintained that by considering the above factors, the civic authorities deferred the concretisation work in this road.
“The further decision will be taken on due course and for the time being stop work notices have been issued, taking into consideration complaints and issues raised by the citizens,” the civic body’s statement read.
