The first hearing on objections and suggestions received regarding the draft ward delimitation structure for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation polls 2025 was held on Wednesday under the supervision of Iqbal Singh Chahal, state government’s authorised officer and Additional Chief Secretary (Home).
A total of 492 objections and suggestions were received on the draft ward structure, of which 189 submissions were reviewed during the first day of hearings.
The hearing session was held at Yashwantrao Chavan Centre, General Jagannathrao Bhosle Marg, in the presence of senior officials including BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Dr Ashwini Joshi, and Special Officer (Elections) Vijay Balmewar.
The hearings are part of the procedural steps leading up to the BMC polls 2025. The draft ward boundaries were notified on August 22, 2025, following which citizens were invited to submit objections and suggestions from August 22 to September 4, 2025.
“The administration has announced that hearings for the remaining submissions will continue on September 11 and 12 at the same venue. Citizens have been urged to participate in person as per the instructions sent to them. The hearings are a crucial step to finalise the ward boundaries ahead of the civic body elections, ensuring transparency and public participation in the electoral process,” a release issued by the BMC stated.
