Days after MNS chief Raj Thackeray admitted to supporting Congress-backed Independent Vijay Sawant in the legislative council polls to ensure that suspension of four party MLAs is revoked, the BJP threatened to file a breach of privilege motion against CM Ashok Chavan and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harshvardhan Patil for using the suspension as a ‘political tool’.

“We are not opposed to the suspension being revoked but to it being used for political purposes…tomorrow they may use it against any other political party,” said BJP state president Sudhir Mungantiwar on Thursday. The BJP-Sena had sought withdrawal of the suspension in the previous session of the state legislature,he said. The instrument of suspension (from the legislature) cannot be used for political blackmail in a democracy,he said.
