BJP slams Jarange-Patil for derogatory remarks against CM Fadnavis

As strong reactions followed from BJP, Jarange retracted and said, “If my words have hurt anybody’s sentiments, I and ready to retract. I have not abused anybody’s mother…. I would like to ask all those questioning me, where were they when the police ruthlessly lathicharged our mothers and daughters. Why did they not speak then?”

Jarange-Patil during a public meeting held at Beed on Sunday had used a derogatory term against Fadnavis’s mother. The tone and tenor of the speech was highly objectionable and invited sharp reaction from the BJP leaders across Maharashtra.

On Monday, BJP minister Nitish Rane said, “In Maharashtra, we follow the teachings of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. We hold mothers and daughters in highest regard as was done by the warrior king. Therefore, when Jarange-Patil resorted to such abusive language against our CM and his family, it was shocking and something which cannot be tolerated at any cost..” He further issued a stern warning and said, “Jarange-Patil should mind his tongue, or else we will chop his tongue.”

Similar strong reactions emanated from other party leaders. BJP women’s wing state president Chitra Wagh said, “The term used by Jarange-Patil against our CM/family is not the culture of Maharashtra. What kind of message is he conveying to his supporters? Can anybody justify such language?”

Another BJP leader, Praveen Darekar, slammed Jarange-Patil. “Nobody is questioning your protest morcha. But if you use protest morcha to target our CM and abuse him, we will have to react strongly,” he said.
