A scuffle broke out between the workers of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday night in Mulund, part of Mumbai North East Lok Sabha seat.

While the Shiv Sena workers claimed that BJP candidate Mihir Kotecha’s workers were involved in illegal distribution of money, Kotecha has condemned Shiv Sena candidate Sanjay Dina Patil’s workers for attacking his office and party members.

“The Nawab of Bhandup Sanjay Patil knew that I and party workers are going to attend PM Narendra Modi’s rally in Dadar, so he sent his workers and attacked my office,” Kotecha told media persons.

Shiv Sena party workers, however, claimed they received a tip-off that BJP workers were involved in some illegal activity related to money due to which scores of Shiv Sena (UBT) workers gathered outside his office.

A team of the election officials along with Mulund police station reached the spot after which the situation was brought under control.

Late on Friday night, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also visited the BJP office.

A senior police officer said, “Initially, there was a complaint that money is being distributed. However, after due verification by the Election Commission, it has come to light that the allegations were not true.”
