The Archbishop of Bombay,Oswald Cardinal Gracias,on Thursday appealed to Anna Hazare to end his hunger strike and said the church was with Anna and his campaign against corruption.

“The state of Anna Hazare’s health is causing great concern. I strongly appeal to Annaji to give up the hunger strike. We want him to continue the good work he is doing to tackle major issues in the country. In order to allay any doubts about the church’s stand on this issue, and in context of some reports that had appeared in media,I wish to clarify that the church is with Anna and we strongly support his campaign,” he said in a statement.

“We have to start talking effectively if we want to eradicate corruption. At the same time,we have to honour the Constitution. Having a strong Lokpal is like having a strong police force,” Oswald Cardinal Gracias added.
