Amid worries about Anna Hazares health,Dr Devlat Pote, his personal physician, said on Monday that the activist was fit to begin his three-day fast in Mumbai. Annas pulse and blood pressure levels are normal. He has improved over the past few days. He will be on medication for the next few days, but is fit enough to go ahead with his fast, Pote said. Annas health was deteriorating over the past couple of days due to viral fever. On Monday, his body temperature was 98 degree F,pulse rate was 86 per minute and blood pressure 146 Pote had said that Anna had lost his appetite and had become weak. More than anything,Annas is very strong mentally. He is adamant to go ahead with the fast. He said even though Anna is recovering,he requires plenty of rest. Pote will be accompanying Anna to Mumbai for the fast. To ensure that long hours of fasting dont affect Annas health, the IAC team has arranged for a strong medical support system around the site of the fast. Apart from Annas private doctors,a team of doctors from Lilavati Hospital has also been appointed to monitor Annas health. An ambulance will be stationed at the fasting site 24/7 to attend to any emergencies, said Priti Sharma Menon, spokesperson of IAC. Though I advised him to avoid travelling by road,he was determined and went ahead with the plan, added Pote. His family members also expressed worry about his health ahead of the fast. It is always an emotional moment for us whenever he fasts, but this time we are more worried as Annaji is not feeling well, said Kaushalya Hazare,daughter-in-law of Hazares brother.
