Already a burning issue

The effigy is of Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel,burnt by BJP women activists on Tuesday. The agitation follows a report in The Indian Express (above) on tribal girls of Maharashtra being trained as airhostesses under state sponsorship and still not getting jobs,and Tribal Development Minister Babanrao Pachpute’s remark that tribal girls are not “physically appealing”. Pradesh Mahila Morcha president Manisha Chowdhury led the protest in Vasai,Thane,with around 50 young tribal girls. Tribal MLA Vishnu Sawra of Vikramgadh moved a notice of attention in the ongoing Assembly session.
