It was clear to us at the pilot in-house Model G20 in April, when the JB Model G20 Leaders' Summit Declaration — an unanimous decision — was taken to invite the African Union as a permanent G20 member. This is remarkably in sync with the top agenda item proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 18,” said Bana.

J B Petit High School for Girls in the city will host the first inter-school Model G20 in collaboration with the Gateway House Indian Council on Global Relations, Mumbai.
The inter-school Model G20, scheduled to take place in November this year, will see participation from schools across India, and abroad.
Tinaz Bana, event’s faculty coordinator and teacher of Commercial Studies at the renowned school in South Mumbai, said, “Following Model G20, we will host mock discussions and consultations as done in the Finance Track and Sherpa Track, followed by the final Leaders’ Summit with an aim to have a consensual statement or outcome document.”
A group of students, all from Class 10, have been working under the guidance of Bana to decide the final programme structure. “Our school was the only school invited to have a Model G20 summit in collaboration with The Gateway House. The school was even permitted to use the official G20 logo,” Bana added.
In April, the all-girls school had also organised an in-house Model G20 event. “G20 is the world’s most influential plurilateral grouping, and we want our students to understand world affairs and the position of our country in it. We realised that the students were interested in it, and have been developing an understanding of the subject.
