Amid the ongoing tussle between the two groups of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the suspension of an X account (formerly Twitter) of the Ajit Pawar faction has sparked fresh controversies.
While NCP president Sharad Pawar said his party has not filed any official complaint with X, the faction led by Ajit Pawar said it will get in touch with the social media platform to sort out the issue.
“The manner in which we have submitted our position to the Election Commission of India, we will submit the position to X as well,” said Sunil Tatkare, the state unit chief of the Ajit Pawar faction.
The Ajit Pawar faction’s X handle was @ncpspeaks_official while the Sharad Pawar group’s X handle is @ncpspeaks.
The youth president of the Ajit Pawar faction, Suraj Chavan, said, “Yes, our X account was suspended a few days ago. We have complained about it to the company. Meanwhile we will be working through the new handle @MahaNCPspeaks.”
Amid speculations that the account was suspended following a complaint filed by the Sharad Pawar group, the NCP’s social media team confirmed to The Indian Express that they did not file any complaint. “However, the company takes action if it receives multiple complaints from various individuals,” an official from the Sharad Pawar-led NCP faction said. Its spokesperson Mahesh Tapase too confirmed that the party has made no official complaint with the X.
