(Express File Photo)DAYS AFTER NCP leader Dhananjay Munde had to resign from his post over the alleged involvement of his aide Walmik Karad in the killing of Beed sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, another local strongman Satish Bhosle alias Khokya has come under the police scanner with two FIRs being registered against him in the past three days.
Ironically, Bhosle is said to be a close aide of BJP MLA Suresh Dhas, who had vigorously pursued the case against Munde and Karad. Dhas said Bhosle is his party worker and that action should be taken against him if he is involved in wrongdoing. Bhosle, who on Instagram identifies himself as secretary of BJP’s Maharashtra state Adivasi sanghatna, is currently on the run.
As per Beed SP Navneet Kanwat, the police took suo motu cognisance of a viral video in which Bhosle is seen allegedly beating a person with a bat. The police registered an FIR against Bhosle at the Shirur police station on Wednesday even as the identity of the victim was not known. It came to light that the incident had taken place last year.
“We have now found that the victim is from Buldhana and a police team has gone to record his statement there,” Kanwat told The Indian Express. Sources said Bhosle allegedly beat him up following a monetary dispute. The victim is a sugarcane picker.
After this FIR, another family approached the local Shirur police and filed a complaint about Bhosle having beaten them up after they confronted his family for setting up deer traps in their field. As per the complaint given by one Dilip Dhakne (55), on February 19, he had gone to his field to answer nature’s call when he saw a deer trapped in the field.
He confronted Bhausaheb Bhosle, Satish’s relative who was sitting nearby, warning him not to set up deer traps in their field. Bhausaheb along with two others from the family started beating up Dhakne and his son.
Bhausaheb then called Satish, who arrived at the spot with some other men in two cars and brutally beat up the father-son duo. Sources said the family was earlier scared of giving a complaint. Based on their complaint, the Shirur police on Thursday registered an attempt to murder case against seven persons, including Satish Bhosle. An officer said they are on the lookout for Satish and would arrest him soon. In the past there have been four–five FIRs registered against Bhosle in Beed.
Videos of throwing money, beating people, hunting animals go viral
Since the video of Satish allegedly beating up a man with a bat went viral, several other videos have emerged including one in which he is seen allegedly telling some school children that he has several cases against them and he does not fear if any more cases come up against him.
Apart from these videos, some reels created by him and put up on Instagram have gone viral including on in which he is seen throwing bundles of money on the dashboard of his car and another where he is throwing money on a crowd gathered nearby possibly giving him the nickname “khokya” (‘khoka’ is slang for crore’.
Other reels include him getting off a helicopter and a large cavalcade of cars accompanying him. Locals have also alleged that he is involved in hunting several animals in the area without the necessary permission.
To a question, Dhas told the media, “He is my party worker and he told me that the viral video was from last year. However, I have told the police that if there is any complaint against him, necessary action should be taken.”
