Adani Realty Group, which is involved in the Dharavi slum redevelopment project in Mumbai, has now placed the highest bid of Rs 36,000 crore for the redevelopment of Motilal Nagar, which is spread across 143 acres in Goregaon (West).
As per sources, Motilal Nagar 1, 2, and 3, the largest residential and commercial settlements, will be redeveloped.
Adani Properties Private Limited (APPL) emerged as the highest bidder for this project after I offered more built-up area than its closest competitor, L&T. The letter of allotment (LOA) for the project will be issued soon by Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) Mumbai Board.
Recently, the Bombay High Court allowed MHADA to redevelop Motilal Nagar through the Construction and Development Agency (CDA). The state government has declared it a “special project.” MHADA retains control, but since it cannot complete the work, it decided to proceed through CDA.
The estimated cost for the redevelopment of Motilal Nagar is approximately Rs 36,000 crore, with a rehabilitation period of seven years from the project’s start date.
