Adani firm given go-ahead for proposed jetty project

The Rs 172 crore proposed project, along the river in Shahapur and Shahabaz taluka will enable transport through waterways, which is comparatively more fuel efficient than the current transport methods, the firm had submitted.

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday approved the construction of a proposed jetty along the Amba river in Raigad district by Adani Cementation Ltd, with the condition that it shall ensure compliance of all conditions set by various statutory authorities.

The court permitted for the proposed jetty construction, cutting of 158 mangrove trees and shrubs, ” subject to strict compliance of the conditions ensuring protection of ecology and environment”. Various conditions were imposed by the Minsitry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Maharashtra Maritime Board, Coastal Zone Management Authority, among others while granting approvals.
