65 kg silver seized in Kalbadevi

The octroi department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday seized 65 kg silver that was being brought into the city from Ahmedabad without paying octroi. A team led by Sudhir Janwalkar,joint assessor and collector of the octroi department,confiscated the silver from two labourers in Kalbadevi.

The team has been patrolling the area for two days following a tip-off by a local informer. The silver was brought from Ahmedabad in a train and was offloaded at Mumbai Central Station. The consignment was brought for a local businessman based in Kalbadevi who was made to pay a fine of Rs 3.73 lakh.
