The accused then allegedly brought a heavy stone and hit on his wife's head with it early Thursday, said senior police inspector Shailendra Nagarkar of the Malvani police station.
A 52-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife in Malvani Thursday and surrendered before the police following which he was arrested.
According to police, the accused, Siraj Naik, killed his wife, Mumtaz Naik, 45, while she was sleeping, after an argument over getting a flat under an SRA project.
According to the police, Naik was staying in Malvani area along with his wife, and three children.
Naik’s residence was part of an SRA project and he had told his wife that if they would pay 9.70 lakh to a builder, they would get a flat under the scheme.
Mumtaz opposed to this which caused an argument between them, police said.
According to police, the couple had an argument over the matter Wednesday night, following which the wife went to sleep.
