3 rebels from Cong,1 from NCP withdraw from fray

Three rebels from the Congress and one from the Nationalist Congress Party are among the 78 who withdrew from the fray on the last day of withdrawal of nominations on Tuesday.

Three rebels from the Congress and one from the Nationalist Congress Party are among the 78 who withdrew from the fray on the last day of withdrawal of nominations on Tuesday. Krishna Thorat of the NCP and Francis Lawrence,Shakil Mohammed and Mujeeb Baig from the Congress withdrew their nomination on Tuesday.

Collectorate officials said 106 candidates remained in the fray for the 10 assembly constituencies after 12 candidates withdrew their nominations. In the Mumbai suburban region,311 candidates would contest for 26 seats after 66 candidates withdrew their nominations.

In the final list,Mankhurd had the largest number of candidates with 26 contestants,followed by Ghatkopar West. Poonam Rao will fight 21 candidates for Ghatkopar West. Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Sardar Tara Singh will be among the 18 in fray in Mulund.
