3 arrested for bid to sell minor

A married couple and their neighbour were booked Tuesday for allegedly trying to sell a 12-year-old girl for Rs 70,000.

A married couple and their neighbour were booked Tuesday for allegedly trying to sell a 12-year-old girl for Rs 70,000. Mohammed Darzi,26,and his wife Samina,24,allegedly struck a deal to sell Samina’s sister but were caught accepting a token amount. The arrest was made by a special squad led by reinstated sub-inspector Daya Nayak. Police said Darzi,a tailor from Goregaon,was promised by another tailor,Mohammed Idreshi,22,to find a customer who will offer a “good amount” for the girl. The arrest was made after an NGO tipped additional commissioner of police Vishwas Nangre-Patil.
