Based on several descriptions, police formed a sketch of the accused and formed a line-up of 10 photographs from which the girl immediately identified Ansari. The victim’s mother also named Ansari as a suspect as he had made advances on the minor before. The girl referred to the accused as ‘uncle’, implying that she knew him.

“We picked him up for questioning as his description matched the sketch. His mobile location was on the spot of the incident at the time.
He was known to the mother and the victim as they often visited his garment shop,” said police inspector police Sunil Kadam. “He will be held in police custody till May 6,” Kadam added.
