A 22-year-old woman died on the spot after a cement brick fell on her head from an under-construction building in Jogeshwari (East). The incident took place on Wednesday when she was on her way to work. The Meghwadi police are in the process of registering a case against the contractor of the under-construction building for negligence. According to the police, the deceased, Sanskriti Anil Amin, was staying in Kirandevi Devendra Singh Chawl, Majas Road, Jogeshwari (East) along with her parents and grandmother. After completing her hotel management course, she started working in a bank at Goregaon. Amin left home as usual on Wednesday morning and as she hardly walked a few metres from her residence, a cement brick fell on her head from the under-construction building of Shraddha Constructions. Her father was sitting at home having breakfast and he heard a loud scream outside. He rushed outside home and saw a huge crowd gathered. He saw his mother Padmavati crying and his daughter lying on the ground and bleeding profusely, said a police officer. The complainant alleged that his mother Padmavati was standing outside the home and saw the incident when the brick fell on her granddaughter, said a police officer. He along with neighbours rushed Sanskriti to a hospital in Jogeshwari where she was declared dead. There is a 15-floor under-construction building of Shraddha Constructions near the deceased’s house and work is going on there. A white cement block allegedly fell on Sanskrit’s head from the top of the building, said a police officer of the Meghwadi police station. "Based on the statement of the deceased’s father, the police are in the process of registering a case of negligence against the contractor of the building," said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 10, Datta Nalawade.
