THE MUMBAI crime branch Thursday arrested two more persons in connection with the Baba Siddique murder case. With this, the total number of arrests in the case has reached 18.
The two arrested accused, Aditya Gulankar (22) and Rafique Niyaz Shaikh (22), were produced before a court here which remanded them in police custody till November 13.
An officer said that both the accused are residents of Karvenagar area of Pune city and were in contact with Pravin Lonkar, one of the alleged conspirators, and another accused Rupesh Mohol.
Lonkar and Mohol, both already arrested, allegedly handed over a 9 mm pistol with ammunition, which were to be used in the crime, to Gulankar and Shaikh, the officer added.
The pistol was recovered during the probe while efforts were on to trace the ammunition.
Siddique (66), a former Maharashtra minister, was shot dead by three gunmen in Mumbai’s Bandra area on October 12.
