Two constables were suspended and a sub inspector (S-I) was transferred to the control room in connection with a probe into a molestation incident at Marine Drive on January 26. A suspect fled the constables’ custody and they allegedly did not inform their seniors, sources said. A teenage girl and her mother approached constables Vishwanath Salve of Dongri police and Kishore Patil of MRA Marg police on Republic Day, followed by a small group that had caught a man allegedly molesting the girl. Salve and Patil took the suspect into custody. “Later, the suspect fled,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (South region) Krishna Prakash. On January 27,a complaint was registered with Marine Drive police. Ukride did not inform his superiors about the suspect’s escape, said Prakash.
