As the country witnesses a worrying spike in Covid cases, Mumbai on Sunday reported 172 new cases. Maharashtra logged a total of 562 new cases, taking the overall tally to 81,45,342. Three deaths raised the overall fatality count to 1,48,444, a health official said.
Mumbai did not witness any death. The overall tally in Maharashtra’s capital now stands at 11,57,454, according to official figures.
A total of 123 patients were discharged, which increased the city’s recovery tally to 11,36,637.
A total of 1,736 tests were carried out in the previous 24 hours, authorities said on Sunday evening, which took the total to 1,87,99,808. The recovery rate in the country’s financial capital stands at 98.13 per cent, while the fatality rate is 1.82 per cent, he said.
One person from Thane city succumbed during the day, while the other two are Sangli district and Nanded district.
