Youth give thumbs down

As the entire nation witnessed bandh on July 5 called by the BJP,youngsters in the city do not share the same ideology as the Opposition.

As the entire nation witnessed bandh on July 5 called by the BJP,youngsters in the city do not share the same ideology as the Opposition. For them,it was a voluntary action to instigate clashes and violence in the country.

Nitin Kapahi,a student of mass communication,said,“One-day bandh is not going to lower prices.” Another student Chahat Aggarwal said bandhs in a way results in paying double prices for getting emergency services on the day of bandh. However,Jagmanpreet Kaur,a science student, says bandhs are good till the time peace is maintained but the moment it turns violent, the law and order of the country is disturbed along with loss of national property.

“Politicians do not have any right to disrupt the peaceful lives of the citizens,” said Trisha Gupta,an interior designing student. Whereas Jasmeet Singh, who is from a commerce background, supports bandhs saying that fuel prices in India are the highest if compared to other countries such as Canada,Bahrain,Nepal,Cuba,Qatar,Bangladesh and even Pakistan. He pointed government’s bad policies as the main cause for the bandhs.

The bandhs surely are good for the school children who get a day’s holiday free, but certainly not beneficial for the ‘aam-aadmi’ as all the public services come to a halt on the day of bandh.
