Tension prevailed in Model Town Extension area on Tuesday evening when an executive engineer of Municipal Corporation, Amritsar, opened fire over a petty dispute. However, no casualty was reported. The area residents informed the police which rushed to the spot and arrested the accused. According to information, some persons were digging sand from a vacant plot in Model Town Extension when the incident happened. Joginder Singh Sandhu, XEN at Municipal Corporation, Amritsar, who resides in the same area, objected to the digging of sand and entered in a heated argument with them. When the situation turned ugly, Sandhu opened fire in the air, and the people digging the sand fled. The Model Town SHO said the accused was arrested from the spot and his weapon was seized by the police. A case has been registered against the accused under Section 336 of the IPC.
