With 98 per cent marks,Garima Aneja of Sacred Heart Convent School in Sarabha Nagar a Commerce student bagged the position of the overall topper of Class XII CBSE Board examination in Ludhiana.
While Gursimran Aneja of the same school topped the Non-Medical stream with 97.4 per cent marks,in Humanities group,Shivangi Sood of BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School came first with 97.4 per cent marks.
In the Medical stream,the top position was shared by Nilita Sood and Mehnaj Kaur Grewal of DAV Public School at BRS Nagar. Both scored 97 per cent marks each.
Daughter of a chartered accountant,Garima plans to do BCom from Delhi University. All the toppers maintained that they did not take coaching classes,as extra classes in schools helped them in performing better.
Last year,the state topper was from Ludhiana with 96.4 per cent marks. Setting a new record,the toppers have surpassed the previous years results. Moreover,the number of students scoring more than 90 per cent marks are also more year when compared to last year.
In BCM Shastri Nagar branch,while 49 students had scored more than 90 per cent marks last year,this year,the number has increased to 87. Principal Paramjit Kaur said,This is a remarkable performance by the school.
Speaking about the rise in pass percentage,R S Patial,Principal of DAV Public School,said: Checking is more scientific now and chances of deduction of marks very less. So,students have all the more reason to score more. Answers have to be very precise and accurate.
In DAV School,more than 50 students have scored 90 per cent and above. Several have scored 100 per cent marks in Maths,Chemistry,Accounts,statistics,Chemistry,Physics and in Humanities subjects as well.
