Three men from Bengaluru arrested for duping 2 city residents of Rs 1.35 crore
The Model Town booked the trio under sections 420 (cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
The police claimed to have arrested three men from Bengaluru for duping two persons of Rs 1.35 crore.
The complainants said that the accused promised to get them an LPG gas agency.
The accused were identified as Anna Durai of Bhadrawati town of Shimoga district of Karnataka, his son A Parthvin and their accomplice Nagraj. A team of Ludhiana cops, which had gone there on February 24, arrested them from Bengaluru.
In their complaint, Raman Attri and Rakesh Kumar of Model Town area had alleged that they had come in contact with Anna Durai, A Parthvin and Nagraj through Pandey and Rajesh Sharma of Amritsar. The accused claimed that they had political contacts and said that they could help the complainants in getting a gas agency.
The accused took Rs 1.35 crore for the task and after taking the money, they vanished. They neither helped the complainants in getting the gas agency nor returned the money. They complainants registered a case at Model Town police station on February 15.

Inspector Inderjeet Singh, SHO at Model Town police station, said that the interrogation of the accused was on and a bigger racket of duping people on the pretext of getting them gas agencies might be busted in the coming days.
On Thursday, the police produced the accused before the court, which remanded the accused in seven-day police custody.
