The former hosiery worker ‘wore his RSS uniform with pride’
“For more than three decades, Gosain had been a dedicated RSS worker. He was running Mohan shakha single-handedly with utmost dedication,” said Parveen Bansal, former district president BJP in Ludhiana.

A former “cutter master” working in a hosiery, 58-year-old Ravinder Gosain had left his job years back after his four sons got “settled”. His wife died of cancer in 2010. His son Deepak Kumar said “hardly there was a day when his father did not wear his RSS uniform”. “He wore it with pride. He was always proud of his association with RSS. Since he left his job, he was only a social worker and handled RSS shakha’s work,” he said.
He is survived by four sons: Deepak Kumar, Ajay Kumar, Gaurav Kumar and Mohit. All four are employed in private companies. “For more than three decades, Gosain had been a dedicated RSS worker. He was running Mohan shakha single-handedly with utmost dedication,” said Parveen Bansal, former district president BJP in Ludhiana. Deepak, on whose statement FIR has been registered against unidentified persons at Basti Jodhewal police station, said, “He never complained of any threat from anyone. He had no rivals or enemies. His favourite pastime was playing with his grandchildren or doing social work. Since he left his job, he was active in social circles and kept helping the poor. His activities and interest in RSS had increased since he left job.”
Gosain’s sons too are also actively involved with RSS and attend shakhas. Deepak said, “I and my brothers are also associated with shakha. My father was a staunch RSS follower. Seeing the previous incidents, it is clear he has been targeted because he was with RSS. There is no personal enmity or rivalry angle to this killing. We want justice.” Ravinder Arora, district president BJP Ludhiana, said Gosain was a ‘dedicated worker who was living hand to mouth but still stuck to the ideology for more than three decades.’
“He had a small house, no business but was a small hosiery worker for years. He had a family to feed when he was just a small hosiery worker. Still he remained grounded and stuck to the RSS ideology and always worked as dedicated RSS man. He lived hand to mouth for most of his life,” he said.
