A rare surgery has been performed by Dr Raman Mittal,of Raman Hospital,Kitchlu Nagar Extension. A 55-year-old woman was suffering from diaphragmatic hernia in which her abdominal organs like intestines had come into her chest and she was having difficulty in breathing. Dr Mittal said it was a very rare and life-threatening condition and earlier it was being treated by open surgery which involved a big cut. However,he along with Dr Dushyant and Dr Brijesh operated on the patient laparoscopically (keyhole surgery). Only three small incisions were made and the intestine were put back and a net was put on the defect. The patient recovered very fast and was discharged in two days,said Dr Mittal.
