A rape victim,who had registered a case against expelled Congress leader and dairy farm owner Amarjit Singh Sandhu on March 12,on Sunday accused police officers of defaming her and misbehaving with her . The police have been calling my relatives and defaming me by saying that I have been raped. The police have also been harassing me by asking me to appear at the police station, the victim told a press conference at Jamalpur here. She alleged the police had visited the institutions where she had worked and pressured the people to give a statement against her character. She had filed a complaint against the division number 2 SHO to Police Commissioner Ishwar Singh,who marked an inquiry to ADCP (City-1) Nilambri Jagdale. The 22-year-old girl said that the police officials had also offered her money to withdraw the complaint. Inspector Gurpreet Singh,the division number 2 SHO,denied the allegation. He said the police had registered the case on the same day and arrested the accused immediately. Later,the inquiry in the case was shifted to the womens cell. Old Jail Road shopkeepers protest After the police issued challans for wrong parking in the area and removed cart pullers,the shopkeepers of Old Jail Road protested against the traffic police and shut down their shops on Sunday.
