Having lost two tigresses (Elaichi and Mohini) three months back,Ludhiana Tiger Safari suffered another loss with the death of the only tigress,Shanti, last Friday. Shanti breathed her last on the night of December 13 with all efforts of doctors trying to save her failing. However, now danger looms large on Ludhiana Tiger Safari as plans are being made to shift both males,Deepak and Mani,to Chhatbir Zoo in Chandigarh. If the step is taken then the Ludhiana Tiger Safari will be empty with nothing for the visitors to see of the wild cats. District Forest Officer Daljit Singh Brar said,Old age has been cited as reason in post-mortem report. He added that maybe both left tigers will also be shifted to Chhatbir only. However, range officer Gurwinder Singh said that for the past three months Shanti had not been well and was suffering from paralysis attack. She had a paralysis attack and was given treatment and given more than 20 glucose bottles but she could not be saved. She also had no mate and was a loner as Deepak and Mani were mates of Elaichi and Mohini who died three months back, said Gurwinder Singh.
